When Laico’s Restaurant Jersey City  opened in 1972, it was a brick-oven pizzeria and bar for the neighborhood locals. The Laico family eventually expanded the menu to include an extensive menu filled with home-made Italian specialties. Mixing both modern and traditional dishes on the menu, the award-winning restaurant has been run by three generations of the Laico family for over 40 years. Bayonne’s Music on Broadway Friday December 16, 2016
 LOCAL ENTERTAINMENT IN RESTAURANTS A PLUS FOR PATRONSÂ
The Bayonne Urban Enterprise Zone  (UEZ) and member businesses part of the UEZ are currently hosting a weekly event MUSIC ON BROADWAY.
Now in its fourth week the event has provided restaurant goers some incredible music while they sit  and eat in their favorite haunts.
Most of these restaurants and venues have  never had entertainment before the program and the public has enjoyed it to date.
The concept for the event was first started when the Bayonne Urban Enterprise Zone hosted Monday Music at the Museum a monthly series which brought bands into the Bayonne Commuinity Museum this past spring.
The series organizer Terry Young along with Dee Dee Bottino of the Bayonne UEZ have put together a talented group of 20 musicians who on a weekly basis rotate within the 18 various venues .
The next MUSIC ON BROADWAY will be held this Friday, December 16th with the following musicians, venues and times:

Bayonne Bridge Construction- City Officials, Port Authority Group Tour Work So Far
Bayonne Bridge Construction was looked over on Friday, December 9, by Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis and officials from the City of Bayonne joined a group from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey on a tour to inspect the ongoing reconstruction of the Bayonne Bridge. The tour was led by Steve Plate, Chief of Major Capital Projects for the Port Authority. Mr. Plate, a civil engineer, is a former Mayor and Council Member from Glen Ridge, New Jersey.
Plate explained to the Bayonne officials that the main span work on the Bayonne Bridge has been completed. The tasks being done now include completing lighting and other electrical work, installing standpipes and conduits, and putting in dividers. New Jersey Turnpike 14A Construction Update
Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that the New Jersey Turnpike Authority and its contractors have provided updated information about the construction around the Exit 14A toll plaza. The news items in this update cover activities through mid-December 2016.

VISIONS OF INDIA-Bayonne Artist Nupur Nishith creates Traditional Folk Paintings
Exhibits at Bridge Gallery in Bayonne; Gallery 14 Maple in Morristown

Dark-eyed women in traditional clothing are painted against a backdrop of bands of colors filled with rows of tiny fish, elephants and other imagery of India. They are the paintings of artist Nupur Nishith, a resident of Bayonne who moved to the U.S. a little over five years ago with an MBA and several years of working for a bank. Instead of following a banking career, though, Nishith decided to follow her passion for art.

NJ Team Wright is Victorious at the 2016 O.I.K.K.A World Karate Championship
In this years O.I.K.K.A World Karate Championship once again, York Watson-Byrd dominated the Kumite Division and Won the Black Belt World Isshin Ryu Fighting Division. He placed 2nd in Forms and 2nd in Weapons. In the Advanced 2, 4th and 5th Division, Kenneth Jackson II clinched 3rd in Kumite coming back to win against several formidable opponents.
Newcomer Nicholas Brea, 16 year old White Belt took 1st in the Adult 18-40 Division, beating an Orange Belt to win the Adult Novice Division While fellow newcomer Michael Townes, yellow belt, placed 3rd in the same division and 2nd in forms.
In the female 18-34 year old Division, Brown Belt Adama Wiggan, Age 32 placed 2nd in Kumite and 2nd in Kata with an outstanding performance. Ciara Castillo won 2nd in Kumite, and Samir O’Neill also took home 2nd in Kumite.
