RWJBarnabas Health hosted a welcome reception to celebrate the opening of the new 80,000-square-foot medical building in Bayonne. Over 200 guests, include Bayonne Mayor James David and other local government officials, attended the event and were given tours of the facility, which encompasses a satellite emergency department (SED), overseen by Jersey City Medical Center, as well as imaging services through New Jersey Imaging Network.

The following work is scheduled over the next three weeks:
Toll Plaza
- East side (entering 14A): renovation of existing Toll Utility Building continues.
Ramps between the Toll Plaza and the Hudson County Extension (HCE)

Local street level work at Garfield, Avenue C and JFK Boulevard bridges will resume in the Fall of 2017. This work will be supported by Jersey City and Bayonne Police as needed.
Avenue E / Proposed Roundabout
- New roadway construction on Avenue E between 51st Street and 53rd Street continues.

New bridge construction activities continue.

Asphalt paving will resume on Avenue E during the week of 10/23/17.
Connector Bridge (Bridge from the Toll Plaza to Port Jersey Boulevard)

Traffic was shifted onto the new Connector Bridge in a two-way temporary traffic pattern. Please CLICK HERE for graphic.
- Pedestrian usage of the bridge for access to and from Port Jersey Boulevard continues to be prohibited. Please CLICK HERE for shuttle bus pamphlet.
- On Sunday, 11/05/17, NJ Transit Light Rail Service between 34th Street Station in Bayonne and Danforth Avenue Station in Jersey City will be maintained via NJ Transit bus service, 3:00AM Sunday morning through 7:00PM Sunday evening. During this period, bridge construction work will be performed over the NJ Transit and Conrail train tracks.
Route 440 and Pulaski Street Intersection / Jughandle
- Ramp roadway construction continues.
- Ramp structure construction to southbound Route 440 continues.
- During the weekend of November 10, 2017, there will be weekend lane closures on northbound and southbound Route 440 between Pulaski Street and Harbor Drive for asphalt paving work. Work will be supported by Bayonne Police.

Seven Works of Art Unveiled on Streets in Downtown Bayonne
Unveiling of Works of Art in Downtown Bayonne: City officials joined artists and others for the unveiling of seven works of art that were painted on utility boxes and former fire alarm boxes from 5th Street to 9th Street. Pictured here is one of the paintings, Aquarium, by Gary Wynans. It is located on Cottage Street, slightly east of Broadway. Jersey City Native Serves Over 20 Years as Navy Submariner

Kings Bay, Georgia – Master Chief Petty Officer Tom Curtin from Jersey City, New Jersey, enlisted in the Navy in 1996 and has spent nearly a third of his career on nuclear powered submarines.
After completing his initial training, Curtin reported to USS Tennessee (SSBN 734) and completed nine strategic deterrent patrols from 1998 to 2004. Bayonne Mayor Davis Expresses Support for Staten Island-Bayonne Aerial Gondola
Bayonne Mayor James Davis is excited to announce that he has signed on to support the proposed Staten Island to Bayonne Aerial Gondola. Recently, Mayor Davis and Assemblymen Nicholas Chiaravalloti (D-31) and John Wisniewski (D-19) met with representatives from the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation (SIEDC) to discuss the project and how to advance it to the next phase –an engineering and feasibility study for the system.
“The City of Bayonne is always looking for innovative ways to improve our mass transit and when the SIEDC presented this idea to me I was intrigued. Thanks to their flexibility and adaptability, aerial gondolas really do present the next frontier of regional transit for the New York-New Jersey metropolitan area and are ideal for an urban environment such as Bayonne†said Mayor Davis. Art in Bayonne Unveiling of Art on Utility Boxes and Fire Boxes
Art in Bayonne, brought out an enthusiastic group of art lovers who visited Bridge Art Gallery at 7th and Broadway for the unveiling of art on Bayonne’s Utility and Fire Poles on Thursday, October 12th.
Artists Jeff Ware, Stephanie Petersen, Gary Waynans, Maria Lupianez, Samantha Llanes and Tiffany Dancy were selected to
create art on various utility boxes and fire poles in the Bergen Point section of Bayonne
Under the direction of Bayonne’s Mayor Jimmy Davis and created
by Bayonne UEZ Director Terrence Malloy and Assistant
Director Dee Dee Bottino the call went out looking for artist interested in creating art on Bayonne’s Utility Boxes and Fire Poles.
The art installation was made possible through the efforts of the Bayonne Municipal Council, The Bayonne Urban Enterprise Zone Corporation, Bridge Art Gallery (Cheryl and Chris Mack) Hudson County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs and Bayonne Mayor James Davis.
Both Mayor Davis and UEZ Director Malloy assured the participants that this current art program was the first of many to come to beautify Bayonne.

Administration Looking to Transition City Vehicle Fleet to Electric Vehicles; Office of Sustainability to be Created following Adoption of Ordinance by City Council this Week
JERSEY CITY – Mayor Steven M. Fulop announced today that the administration is advancing a plan to install electric car charging stations that will be open to the public in all six wards of the
city as part of the Fulop administration’s sustainability agenda.
