JERSEY CITY – Mayor Steven M. Fulop announced today that Jersey City has been ranked the 8th Most LGBT-Friendly City in America by the financial website Nerdwallet.
 “We are excited to have such a diverse community in Jersey City that is recognized nationally,â€Â said Mayor Fulop. “As we prepare to celebrate LGBT Pride Month, it is a great honor to see Jersey City ranked alongside such large cities as San Francisco, Seattle, and Chicago.â€
Mayor Fulop was an early supporter of gay marriage and Jersey City made history when eight couples were among the first to be married during a midnight ceremony at City Hall in October when New Jersey became the 14th state to legalize same-sex marriage.
Other cities that ranked in the top ten include Austin, Atlanta and Minneapolis. Nerdwallet is a financial information website that according to its online profile “offers data-driven tools and impartial information to help consumers make solid decisions about the money.â€
