Jersey City Native Awarded Junior Sailor of the Quarter and 2020 Junior Sailor of the Year

“My job is similar to an administrative clerk,” said Cabell.

Cabell joined the Navy eight years ago for the opportunities the military offers.

“I joined the Navy because I wanted to set myself up for success,” said Cabell. “I was worried about being in debt after college and I knew the benefits of joining the Navy would put me on the right track. I did not think I would do more than four years.”

According to Navy officials, the mission of Navy Expeditionary Combat Command is to organize, man, train, equip and sustain Navy Expeditionary Combat Forces to execute combat, combat support and combat service support missions across the full spectrum of naval, joint and combined operations that enable access from the sea and freedom of action through the sea-to-shore and inland operating environments.

Though there are many opportunities for sailors to earn recognition in their command, community and careers, Cabell is most proud of being promoted.

“I am immensely proud of being selected for this promotion,” said Cabell. “I am also proud of the recognition I received on the journey toward that by being selected as Junior Sailor of the Year. I am happy that my work is noticed and appreciated.”

As a member of the U.S. Navy, Cabell, as well as other sailors, know they are a part of a tradition providing the Navy the nation needs.

“Serving in the Navy to me means, I will be able to provide for my family while also getting the opportunity to do right outside of my home,” added Cabell.Posted 1 week ago by Navy Office Of Community Outreach
