Bayonne Bridge Project updates announced by  Mayor Jimmy Davis , the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has provided new information about the latest developments in the Bayonne Bridge construction project.
At Pier N2, south of 1st Street, by the shoreline, footings are under construction. At Piers N3, N4, and N5, located south of 1st Street, work has been completed for now.
           At Pier N6 & Pier N7, north of 1st Street (between 1st and 2nd Streets), drill shaft work and excavation for sixteen footings are underway. The Port Authority will be working in this area until December.
At Pier N8, between 2nd and Gertrude Street, behind Ideal Windows, work has been completed for now. At Pier N9, between Gertrude and 3rd Street (behind “The Bridge†indoor skate park), Pier N10 – 3rd Street (south side), and Pier N11 – 3rd Street (north side), and Pier N12, between Juliette and 4th Streets (Slootsky Park on Juliette Street side), pier erection is in progress with the crane.
By Pier N13, between Juliette & 4th Streets (Slootsky Park 4th Street side), workers are installing pier tops with the crane. By Pier 14, Margaret Street, gantry operation started at night (9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.) between Margaret and 4th Streets placing roadway segments. This will be in place for about four more weeks.
At Pier N15 (by the abutment), the gantry has its base of operations.
The Port Authority has announced the daily schedule for Bayonne Bridge closures for the last week of April/start of May: Wednesday,  April 29 – 9am – 3pm closure; Wednesday, April 29 – 8:30pm – 5:00 am closure; Thursday,  April 30 – 9am – 3pm closure; Thursday, April 30 – 8:30pm – 5:00 am closure; Friday,  May 1 – 9am – 3pm closure; and Friday, May 1 – 11:59PM closure. The Bayonne Bridge will be closed from 11:59pm Friday, May 1, through 11:59pm Saturday, May 2.
Please Note: All dates are subject to change based on weather and work scheduling. Closures to align and set pier segments are subject to change due to product issues no later than 4:00 p.m. the day before.
Multi-Hour Closures:Â During the last week of April, there will be several multi-hour closures of the Bayonne Bridge:
               20-Minute Traffic Holds: To facilitate pier segment delivery and erection at worksites in Bayonne and Staten Island, 20-minute traffic holds may take place.
Mothers’ Day Schedule: The Bayonne Bridge will remain open without any closures from Saturday, May 9, at 8:00 a.m., until Monday, May 11, at 5:00 a.m.
Memorial Day Schedule: The Bayonne Bridge will remain open without any closures from Friday, May 22, at 5:00 a.m., until Tuesday, May 26, at 5:00 a.m.
Fathers’ Day Schedule: The Bayonne Bridge will remain open without any closures Saturday, June 20, from 8:00 a.m. until Monday, June 22, at 5:00 p.m.
New Closure Time Effective Monday, April 20: Beginning April 20, the bridge will close at 8:30 p.m. instead of 9:00 p.m. for the duration of the project.
Street Closures: Portions of West 4th Street are closed until June.  Portions of West 3rd Street are closed until July. Juliette and Gertrude Streets are to be closed frequently throughout the project from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. No other streets will be closed while three of the streets above are closed. While these sections of roadway are closed, vehicles can continue to enter from JFK Boulevard or Avenue A for local access only. No through traffic can travel under the Bayonne Bridge.
Residential Assistance Programs: If residents near the work zones feel inconvenienced due to the work noise, or if they have any safety concerns while construction is underway near their home, they can participate in the Port Authority’s Hotel Stay Program. O.R. Colan Associates (ORC) is the Port Authority’s agent. Residents must contact them to confirm their eligibility and to book a reservation at a specific hotel in Staten Island, Jersey City, or the Newark Airport area). They will arrange for a comfortable setting. ORC can be reached at 201-301-6263 or by e-mail at [email protected]. Residents do not need to be homeowners to participate in this program.
Window Replacement: Homeowners are still eligible for the Window Replacement Program. They should call ORC at 201-301-6263 for details and an enrollment package.
