Healy and Mayor-Elect Steven Fulop will attend a Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Task Force event with President Barack Obama and Governor Chris Christie at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28th, 2013 at the Convention Hall in Asbury Park, 1300 Ocean Avenue.

President Obama and Governor Christie will tour the Jersey Shore, view the rebuilding efforts and speak with homeowners and business owners impacted by Hurricane Sandy. Following the tour, President Obama will deliver remarks at the Convention Hall, where Mayor Healy and Mayor-Elect Fulop will be in attendance. Mini-Golf Course to Open

mini_golf  Mayor Mark A. Smith has announced that the Bayonne Mini-Golf Course will open for the season on Memorial Day weekend – Friday, May 24, from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m., and Saturday, May 25, Sunday, May 26, and Monday, May 27, from 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m., weather permitting. The Mini-Golf Course will also be open on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) in June from 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m. until school gets out for the summer. When the school year is over, the Mini-Golf Course will be open daily, weather permitting, through Labor Day, Monday, September 2.

Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Newark Joins National Memorial Day Salute to Our Heroes

Thousands of Catholic Cemeteries across the Country Unite for National Program

MobileCatholic-Cemeteries logoCatholic Cemeteries, NJ, May 27, 2013 – As the country prepares to celebrate Memorial Day, Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Newark will join thousands of Catholic Cemeteries across the United States in a national celebration, “Serving God and Country: A Memorial Day Salute to Our Heroes.” This national program, developed by the Catholic Cemetery Conference, will honor those men and women who died while serving in the armed forces, as well as recognize both our active military and military veterans who have served our country.

“Serving God and Country: A Memorial Day Salute to Our Heroes,” we invite our active military and veterans to participate in a Memorial Day Mass, and/or other cemetery-related activities throughout the weekend at Catholic Cemeteries. Veterans and active military are invited to serve as flag or candle bearers during the opening and closing processions at Mass, and will also be invited to serve as Lectors, participate in the Presentation of Gifts, and recite uniform intercessions followed by a moment of silence.

Hudson County Community College Announces Bayonne Resident David Tadros Is Valedictorian

hccc-logo300dpiJERSEY CITY, N.J. / May 15, 2013 — Hudson County Community College President Dr. Glen Gabert announced that David Tadros of Bayonne has been chosen as Valedictorian for the College’s Class of 2013.

 David Tadros is not what many people would consider a “traditional” college student, insomuch as he is older — 26 years of age — and had postponed pursuing a college education until just two years ago. What’s more, he is “surprised” by the fact that he has been chosen as Valedictorian, despite the fact that he carried a 4.0 grade-point average throughout the two years he was studying at the College.  On thursday evening approximately 1,000 students are expected to graduate in the class of 2013. At the ceremony will preside Hudson County Community College (HCCC) President Dr. Glen Gabert; Hudson  County Executive Thomas A. DeGise; HCCC Board of Trustees Vice Chair Bakari  Gerard Lee, Esq. and members of the Board of Trustees; Keynote Speaker J. Noah   Brown, President and CEO of the Association of Community College Trustees; 2013  Heritage Award Recipient Kenneth Lindenfelser, Sr.; Major Charles Kelly of The Salvation Army, who will lead the invocation; HCCC Class of 2013 Valedictorian   David Tadros and the students graduating in the HCCC Class of 2013; members   of the HCCC administration, faculty and staff.

  Hudson County Community College 35th Annual Commencement Ceremonies. will take place at  Prudential Hall at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark, NJ.

Hoboken, N.J. – May 21, 2013 – Behind Hoboken’s brownstones and former factory façades is a worNOLA 3ld of lush gardens and unusual courtyard spaces, as diverse as the city’s residents. Gardeners and non-gardeners alike are invited to indulge their curiosity and pick up urban gardening ideas on the Hoboken Historical Museum’s 16th Annual Secret Garden Tour, Sunday, June 2, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Rain date: June 9).

This year, a total of 8 residential gardens (plus four bonus not-so-secret garden spaces) will welcome tour goers to support the Museum’s fundraising efforts. It’s the public’s chance to peek behind Hoboken’s late-19th and early-20th century row houses to see how gardeners’ creativity and landscapers’ skill can integrate nature into an urban setting. Child Birth Classes – Cost is $125 per couple if delivering at PMC; $150 if delivering elsewhere. The more you understand about the process of labor, the better prepared you and your support partner will feel.  Classes include: understanding the labor process, breathing and relaxation techniques to work with your body, the role of the support person, options for pain medications and medical interventions, Caesarean birth, understand your changing body after birth, newborn appearance and procedures after birth.  The childbirth class also includes a tour of Palisades Medical Center’s labor and delivery unit.
