Bruno Sammartino WWE Hall of Fame Inductee to be Honored by Jersey City Mayor Healy

JERSEY CITY SEAL LOGOJERSEY CITY – Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy, and the Jersey City Municipal Council, will honor “Wrestling’s Living Legend” WWE Hall of Fame Inductee 2013, Bruno Sammartino at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013 at City Hall, 280 Grove Street, Jersey City.

 

Bruno Sammartino, also knows as the “The Living Legend will be presented with a proclamation from Mayor Healy in recognition of his accomplishments for his well-known and lengthy wrestling career. Bruno Sammartino is known for being the longest running champion of the World Wide Wrestling Federation and in professional wrestling history, defending his title for 11 years.

“The Living Legend” will be inducted into the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Hall of Fame on Saturday April 6th, 2013 in Madison Square Garden. The induction will be led by Sammartino’s long time friend and fellow International Sports Hall of Famer, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Returning to Jersey City, Bruno Sammartino has wrestled several times at the Jersey City Armory in the 1960’s, and in 2001, he returned to support the Jersey City Police Officer’s Fundraiser for the widows and children’s fund for the NYPD, PAPD and NYFD of those who lost their lives on 9-11. He also appeared at the famous Roosevelt Stadium for numerous wrestling matches.

Bruno Sammartino was born in Abruzzi, Italy on October 6, 1935, and currently resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
