Son Cubano Restaurant Residents from the Roseland Properties on River Road and Several Son Cubano Vendors Hold Wine Tasting Event

EVENT TO  RAISE DESPERATELY  NEEDED  FUNDS TO FILL THE EMPTY COFFERS OF THE DIVINE KONECTION FOOD PANTRY IN WEST NEW YORK

West New York – December 22, 2011 – Tomorrow at 1:30pm a delivery truck filled with desperately needed food items will arrive at the Dvine Konection Food Bank and be unloaded into the now bare shelves of the West New York social services agency. The food was purchased with monies raised by Son Cubano Restaurant located on the West New York Waterfront.

On December 12, Son Cubano held a wine tasting fund raiser which was exclusive to the residents of Riverwalk, Riverbend, Riveredge, Sheffield and Stonehenge. Residents were asked to donate $10.00 to participate in the Wine Tasting event. Three of Son Cubano’s vendors, Frank Garguillo & Sons, Ideal Meats, Inc. and Fidelis Security Services also made donations toward the event.

“We are looking for ways to help our community,” said Alex Duran one of the owners of Son Cubano. Duran said that he thought it would be a good idea to include the residents in this project so that they could start working together as one community.

Duran added that because of the success of this event he and his brother Eddie Duran, who is also his partner, would be looking for ways to assist the food bank on a regular basis.

“My brother Eddie, who handled the details of the event is very proactive and seeing the success of this event believes he can come up with something that can be done to bring in other restaurants and make the success of this wine tasting bigger and more  productive,” said Alex Duran.

“We raised $1,000.00 and we did no marketing because it was exclusive, so I know once we sink our teeth into this we will be a good source for the Dvine Konection,” said Eddie Duran. We want to try and be a source that will help keep their pantries from drying up, especially during the holiday season when people need the most help,” added Eddie Duran.

Tania Fuentes, the CEO of Dvine Konection said, “Dvine Konektion Community Outreach wholeheartedly appreciates Son Cubano Restaurant for collaborating this Holiday Season with our monthly food & baby pantry. Multiple families will not go hungry due to the generosity that SC has demonstrated. To date over 5000 people have walked through our doors and have been served. Thank you again SC for making our slogan “See the need, meet the need” a reality in the lives of many in our community.”
