Hudson County Genealogical & Historical Society Presents Dr.Leonard Vernon Author of New Book on Former Jersey City Mayor Frank Hague

Saturday, October 13th  11am

You are invited to join the Hudson County Genealogical & Historical Society to learn more about the former Jersey City Mayor as they present a talk by Dr. Leonard Vernon, the author of a new book on Frank Hague, “The Life and Times of Jersey City Mayor Frank Hague” on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the Secaucus Public Library at 11 am.

In his talk and his book Dr. Vernon reflects on the complex nature of the Frank Hague political machine, which could rule the city with an iron, and sometimes merciless hand, and at the same time deliver city services far beyond those of other similar cities.

Dr. Vernon will show how under Frank Hague Jersey City’s program to prevent juvenile delinquency was decades ahead of any other city and it’s program for public health care was ahead of even where our country stands today.
