The festival will take place on Avenue E between 22nd and 24th Streets. In order to accommodate the festival, portions of Avenue E will be closed to traffic. Up to twenty food trucks will be participating. There will also be up to fifteen tents for food dealers and other vendors. The trucks and tents will offer a great assortment of foods from a variety of cultures. Featured cuisines will include American, Chinese, Greek, Italian, Korean, Latin American, and Polish, among others.
Participating food vendors will include: House of Cupcakes, Chavas, Mozzarepas, Athens Delite, Taste of Poland, Angry Archies, Twisted Steak, 12 Truck, Cold Stone Creamery, JJ House of Dogs, Latin Bites, Hormans Pickles, The Little Sicilian, Kimchi Grill, El Chilango, No Forks Given, Venti, All American Wontons, Simpley Done, Mac Truck, Just Delicious Kettle Corn, and more.
Merchant vendors will include Taproot Organic, Bang Cookies, Viking Eye Wear, Henna, Village Cigar, Hank’s Hot Sauce, Momentum Solar, CG Candles, Twin Novelties, Beard Oil, and Sundance Vacations.
In addition to the food trucks and tents, the event will include childrens’ rides, sand art, live music, and a beer and wine garden for the adults. The musical entertainment will feature concerts by The Suyat Band and Who Brought the Dog. A stage for performances will be set up at 23rd Street and Avenue E.
The Suyat Band delivers high-energy hits from yesterday and today with rock-solid musicianship and warm-hearted aloha spirit. The band is led by Hawaiian-born Matthew Suyat, a champion at the Apollo Theater and American Idol Top 24 Finalist. The Suyat Band was featured at a previous Bayonne Food Truck Festival.
Who Brought the Dog offers a diverse selection of rock music. Staging energetic performances, the band plays the top rock hits of the present and the past. This New Jersey-based group covers the music of dozens of popular musicians from The Doors to AC/DC and Bruce Springsteen.
Admission to the festival is free. Members of the public will purchase their own choices of food, beverages, and children’s rides.
For safety reasons, several “Road Closed,†“Local Traffic Only,†and “No Parking†signs will be posted in and around the affected portions of the Avenue E corridor. Variable message signs will also be used to announce information to motorists. Police and Fire Department vehicles will assist in creating safety perimeters for the event. Set-up for the event will begin at 7:00 a.m.
Parking lots will be available in several locations: Lots 6 and 7 – 23rd Street and Church Lane; Lots 8 and 9 – East 26th Street between Broadway and Avenue E; and the Barnabas Medical Center parking deck at 24th Street and DelMonte Drive. Public metered parking will also be available along the Broadway corridor. Pay station and parking meter enforcement will be in effect.
There is no rain date for the food truck festival. In the event of predictions of severely inclement weather for May 7, a decision about the festival would be made by the day before.
