Hudson County Community College Invites Job Seekers
to Get an Edge on a New Career at the
Collegeâ€s April 17 Job Fair

There are those who have created professional profiles on LinkedIn and combed through job search sites like Indeed, but find their resumes seem to get lost in an online shuffle. Now is the time for those individuals to polish their elevator speeches and pitch them directly to prospective employers at the upcoming Hudson County Community College (HCCC) Job Fair.

Job fairs continue to be one of the most effective ways for current students, college graduates, and seasoned professionals to find employment. The face-to-face interaction with company representatives provides a direct link to launch a new career path.

Hudson County Community College will host the FREE Job Fair on Tuesday, April 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Collegeâ€s Culinary Conference Center, 161 Newkirk Street in Jersey City â€“ just two blocks from the Journal Square PATH Transportation Center. The event is open to HCCC students and graduates seeking employment as well as the entire community. Last yearâ€s event attracted more than 1,000 job seekers.

To attain the most out of the event, job seekers are encouraged to target a handful of employers, bring at least 10 copies of their resumes, and take notes during conversations with company representatives. They are also advised to do their homework about companies of interest, and to remember that companies fill a variety of positions, across dozens of job sectors.

This yearâ€s event will feature private- and public-sector industries â€“ including law enforcement, healthcare, transportation, education, banking and finance, insurance, logistics, retail, social services, computer technology, hospitality, and others.

Jersey City to Kick-Off Global Entrepreneurship Week
JERSEY CITY – Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy is proud to announce the Global Entrepreneurship Week in Jersey City Kick-Off Celebration took place on Monday, November 16,at 10:00 a.m. at the Jersey City, City Hall Council Chambers, 280 Grove Street.
Rising Tide Capital, a local non-profit organization that provides training and coaching to entrepreneurs, is spearheading a series of events in Jersey City to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week from November 16 to 22, 2009. Jersey City will be joining communities across 75 countries to recognize entrepreneurship as a means of unleashing innovation and spurring economic growth.
A range of local businesses, government and community leaders, including the New Jersey Small Business Development Center at New Jersey City University, New Jersey’s Urban Enterprise Zones program and the New Jersey District Office of the SBA are participating in this year’s celebrations. Sponsors of the week include Bank of America (Lead Sponsor), Capital One (Presenting Sponsor) and Brick Haus Fitness (Junior Presenting Sponsor).

On aÂ 30 acre parcel ofÂ land in Bayonne NJÂ that lay dormant for nearly 26 years on Route 440. New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine, Bayonne Mayor; Mark Smith, Bayonne City Council President; Vincent LoRe, Bayonne Local Redevelopment Agency Director; Christopher Patella, and respresentatives of the New York Bayonne Cameron Group: Eric Alderman, Â and others broke ground for the construction of theÂ Bayonne Crossings Project Shopping Center.

In his speech to the 200 plus attendees Governor Corzine spoke of the JobsÂ that will be created by the construction of the Mall, emphasing “Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, will be created with the building and opening of this mall“.The Govenor said he was proud to announce that 1200 construction jobs will be filled, and 900 retail jobs will be created.Â Â AndÂ Bayonne will receive Urban Enterprise Zone revenues which could equal into the millions. These are funds paid back by the state to the city from the 3.5 % sales tax.

The Govenor also said that Mayor Smith of Bayonne workedÂ very hard in his committment to seeing this project become a reality,Â Gov. Corzine praisedÂ and thanked Mayor Mark Smith and everyone involved in the project .

The mall tenants: Who have signed leases to date are: Walmart and Â Lowe’sÂ which are the anchor stores,Â andÂ Â Sonic Drive Inn.Â AlsoÂ scheduledÂ as tenants: Â Sleepy’s, Friday’s, Longhorn, and NYSC (New York Sport Centers). The first store is expected to open in December of 2010.Â
