            The Art Circle of Bayonne announced that the opening reception for its February art exhibit at the Bayonne Community Museum has been moved from Friday evening, February 8, to Monday evening, February 11, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. The event was postponed due to the weather.

  The museum is located at the northwest corner of 9

th Street and Broadway.

  This exhibit will include watercolors, photography, acrylics, oil paintings, and mixed media.

             Due to the storm, there will no exhibit hours over the weekend. Following opening night on February 11, the exhibit will be open to the public on the following days:

  Tuesday, February 12, through Friday, February 15, from 5:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m.

            All exhibiting artists are members of the Art Circle of Bayonne.

  It is not necessary to be a Bayonne resident to join the organization.

  Membership in the Art Circle is available for $25 per year.

            Museum visitors are encouraged to use mass transit.

  The Broadway Bus stops outside the building.

  The Hudson Bergen Light Rail stops a block away at the 8

th Street Station, which is located on West 8

th Street between Broadway and Avenue C.

  Light Rail connects with the PATH system at Hoboken Terminal, and at Pavonia-Newport and Exchange Place PATH stations in Jersey City.

The post Bayonne’s Art Circle Exhibit’s Opening Reception Postponed Until Monday, February 11, at Bayonne Community Museum first appeared on River View Observer.

  Representatives of several municipal departments and agencies attended.

 The Public Works Department is ready to mobilize at least twenty vehicles to salt and plow the streets, if needed.

  A local state of emergency may be declared, if the situation warrants it.

  Mayor Smith said, “My Administrationâ€s goal is to salt and plow the streets as efficiently as possible during snowstorms this winter.

  We need to keep streets passable and maintain access to public buildings and emergency services.”

            The municipal departments that will be involved in snow operations are the Public Safety Department (which includes the Police Department and the Fire Department) and the Department of Public Works.

  Also cooperating are the Municipal Utilities Authority and United Water, the Board of Education, the Housing Authority, and the Parking Authority.

  Should conditions warrant, the City would activate the emergency operations center.
    

If  Bayonneâ€s streets are snow-covered on Saturday morning, street-sweeping will be suspended that day.

            If needed, storm announcements will be posted on BAY-TV Channel 78 on Cablevision, BAY-TV Channel 42 on Verizon FiOS, on the municipal website, which is www.bayonnenj.org, and on Bayonneâ€s Facebook page.

  Mayor Smith said, “By moving permit payments to the Tax Collectorâ€s Office/City Cashier, we are beginning the process of centralizing payments for various fees and permits.

  This move is part of my Administrationâ€s drive to create a more efficient municipal government.”
