“The opening of Saint Peterâ€s PAC is a momentous occasion for our neighborhood as this new initiative will open up endless cultural opportunities and will bring world-class talent to the McGinley Square area,” said Michael A. The venues in Saint Peterâ€s PAC include St. Aedanâ€s: The Saint Peterâ€s College Church – a 1,200 seat cathedral that transforms into a majestic theatre, providing a grand backdrop for world-class artists; a 3,200 seat arena that hosts family events, trade shows, food expos and more; an intimate 200 seat theatre; and black box spaces showcasing everything from poetry jams to comedy improv to film screenings. A 400 seat cabaret-style performance space with a coveted view of the Manhattan skyline is also currently under construction and will serve as the perfect arena for jazz and acoustic concerts.
On Saturday, September 15 Jay Black and Darlene Love will take the stage at St. Aedanâ€s: The Saint Peterâ€s College Church for the premiere event for the Performing Arts Center. Jay Black will be performing alongside Darlene Love, a former leader on the charts with legendary producer Phil Spector and a Broadway star.
November performances at Saint Peterâ€s PAC include a stand-up performance from Bill Cosby on Saturday, November 3 and an “Evening of Doo Wop” on Saturday, November 17. Bill Cosby, one of Americaâ€s most prolific comedians of all time, has dazzled generations of fans with his comedy routines. His comedy transcends age, gender, and cultural barriers.
An “Evening of Doo Wop” will feature a variety of legendary performers such as Kenny Vance & The Planotones famous for their hit “Looking for an Echo,” Jay Siegel & The Tokens, singers of “The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” Frankie Lymonâ€s Legendary Teenagers known for the song “Why Do Fools Fall in Love,” Shirley Alston Reeves, the original singer from The Shirelles, who will be performing her legendary hit, “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” and Linda Jansen, original lead singer of The Angels, performing her classic “My Boyfriendâ€s Back.” Additional performances will be announced soon.

Agreement will enable HCCC Associateâ€s degree grads to continue studies towards Bachelorâ€s degrees at SPC at NJ state college tuition rates

March 23, 2012, Jersey City, NJ – On Wednesday morning, Hudson County Community College (HCCC) President Dr. Glen Gabert and Saint Peterâ€s College (SPC) President Dr. Eugene Cornacchia signed a memorandum of agreement that will allow HCCC graduates to transfer their credits to, and complete their baccalaureate studies at, SPC for the same tuition students would pay at a New Jersey state college. The signing of the agreement took place in the HCCC Culinary Arts Institute/Conference Center on the Collegeâ€s Journal Square Campus in Jersey City.

 

“This is an historic event in Hudson County Community Collegeâ€s history,” said President Gabert. “We have always had close ties to Saint Peterâ€s College — we have partnered with SPC in several ventures and have a longtime articulation agreement with them. However, this agreement is truly unique in that it will provide HCCC graduates with the opportunity to continue working towards their bachelorâ€s degrees at Saint Peterâ€s College at the same tuition that they would pay at a New Jersey state college.” The agreement applies to any baccalaureate degree program in Saint Peter Collegeâ€s College of Arts and Sciences/School of Business Administration, School of Nursing, School of Education or School of Professional and Continuing Studies.

 

“The partnership with Hudson County Community College further solidifies our commitment to the growth and well-being of the surrounding community,” said Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D., President of Saint Peterâ€s College. “Not only are we building enrollment for Saint Peterâ€s College, but we are making it possible for Hudson County Community College students to continue their education right here in Hudson County. With benefits such as New Jersey state college tuition rates and personal transfer advisement, HCCC graduates can be sure they are getting the most out of their investment in an education.” 

 Dr. Gabert explained that Saint Peterâ€s College will maintain an office on Hudson County Community Collegeâ€s Journal Square campus, where HCCC students will be able to learn about Saint  Peterâ€s College, the courses of study offered there and the requirements needed for transferring after graduating from HCCC.

 Also present for the agreement signing were HCCC Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Eric Friedman and Vice President for North Hudson Center and Student Affairs Dr. Paula P. Pando, as well as SPC Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Marylou Yam and Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs & Assessment Dr. Mildred Mihlon.

 Dr. Gabert said the agreement will be “changing lives,” as it opens many new avenues of opportunities to Hudson County Community College students who earn their Associateâ€s degrees. “This agreement helps make the possibility of attaining a bachelorâ€s degree from a private, prestigious, liberal arts college significantly more affordable and, therefore, much more of a reality. As we have often stated, at Hudson County Community College our foremost concern is to serve our students — and therefore our community — better, and this agreement is just another example of how we — in conjunction with Saint Peterâ€s College — are doing just that,” he stated.

 Both Dr. Gabert and Dr. Cornacchia referenced the fact that plans are in the works for other collaborations between Hudson County Community College and Saint Peterâ€s College.

Russo has more than 20 years of experience successfully leading a number of major national and international technology companies. Most recently, she served as the chairman and CEO of the French-American multinational giant, Alcatel-Lucent. In 2007, Russo was named the tenth most powerful woman in the world by Forbes. She currently serves on the board of directors for several organizations, including Alcoa, Merck, General Motors and the Partnership for a Drug-Free America.

Bracken recently became the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, taking the reins of the stateâ€s business advocacy organization as it celebrates its 100th anniversary. He has been involved with the Chamber for more than 30 years and has four decades of experience in the banking and financial services industry. Bracken previously served as president of TriState Capital Bankâ€s New Jersey operation.

Jersey City, N.J. – May 7, 2011 – Saint Peterâ€s College has officially launched the public phase of the most transformational capital campaign the College has ever seen, Students at the Center: The Campaign for Saint Peterâ€s College. With a minimum goal of $62 million, the construction of the Collegeâ€s first ever student center stands at the heart of this comprehensive Campaign. In addition, the Campaign will help to grow the Collegeâ€s endowment and The Saint Peter Fund, formerly known as the annual fund, as well as invest in Saint Peterâ€s Jesuit mission and identity, academics and athletics.

“We are embarking on a path to attain an unsurpassed living and learning environment and Students at the Center is off to a great start. We have raised nearly $45 million to date and are more than halfway to our goal of $62 million,” said Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D., president of Saint Peterâ€s College. “Everything we do at Saint Peterâ€s College is about students – itâ€s part of our Jesuit mission.”

The new student center will be a six-story, 90,000 square foot facility located on the east side of campus spanning from Montgomery Street to Glenwood Avenue. The signature building will not only transform the physical campus and help to attract high caliber students, but it will also serve as a dynamic hub of activity for the College community with a new home for dining, fitness, learning and socializing. In addition, it will serve the local community through The Duncan Family Sky Room, an event facility on the sixth floor that will provide space for special events and community meetings.

Keeping in line with the Collegeâ€s efforts to go green and its recently implemented Climate Action Plan, the new center will be a certified LEED-Silver “green” building and will feature energy and water efficient controls and fixtures, a green roof and storm water runoff. In addition, it will be constructed with recycled content, renewable and regional materials, and will promote recycling and HVAC management while reducing waste. Even the elevators will use recycled energy similar to the technology used in the Toyota Prius.

The enrichment of five additional priorities is also a central component of the framework for Students at the Center.

To further promote its Jesuit identity, the College will look to expand its current ministry resources, beginning with St. Aedanâ€s: The Saint Peterâ€s College Church, which will soon officially become a part of the College.

Plans for advancement in academics include offering programs that prospective students in todayâ€s marketplace desire, while emphasizing faculty research and improving academic facilities.

The Collegeâ€s current endowment stands at $25 million, which is among the most modest of the 28 American Jesuit colleges and universities. Saint Peterâ€s will work to grow this crucial fund to ensure that any qualified student who wishes to attend the College is able to do so. Furthermore, enhancements to athletic programs will consist of greater attention to athletics operations and facilities, including locker rooms.

The College publicly kicked off the Campaign on Friday night with a black-tie event at Liberty National Golf Course in Jersey City. The invitation-only cocktail gala featured a riveting performance by Taylor Hicks, the season five winner of American Idol. In addition to leadership-level College supporters, Senator Robert Menendez â€76, Congressman Albio Sires â€74 and Mayor of Jersey City Jerramiah T. Healy were in attendance to help celebrate the momentous event.

Thomas P. Mac Mahon â€68, chairman of Students at the Center, stressed the importance of the Campaign to the eventâ€s crowd. “In order to compete today, Saint Peterâ€s College must address the necessities of a 21st century education. We need the right facilities. We need the right programs. And we need to reinforce our critical commitment to our Jesuit mission, among other priorities.”
