New York, NY, February 26, 2010 – The iconic singer of the rock group Transcendence, never known for doing things ‘ordinary,’ definitely did it his way in what may be the ‘interfaith wedding of the year!’ On February 13, Hale’s last Triple A radio hit single, I Walk Alone, no longer applied to him as he and the beautiful Nahal Mishel-Ghashghai, began their life together in a style that crosses all cultural barriers. At a church on the corner of Park Avenue in New York City, they were joined in a formally Islamic fashion in a traditional Persian wedding, followed immediately by a traditional Christian wedding.

The newlyweds then did “jump the broom,” a centuries-old African American wedding tradition, in solidarity with people around the world who are still victims of human trafficking and slavery today. At their reception, the couple held a traditional Tibetan Buddhist Ceremony as Venerable Pema of the Nechung Tibetan Buddhist Monastery performed Tibetan Buddhist prayers and bestowed wedding blessings upon them.

This amazing couple’s relationship that began in 2002, and culminated in a romantic proposal on a boat in Central Park, is literally the stuff of romantic novels! Transcending all obstacles, including the 3,500 miles that often kept them apart, their friendship and love were the inspiration for Little Tree, that eventually was recorded as the last song on the Transcendence album Sleep With You, and Superhero Girl on the same album.

Hale has justly earned the nickname ‘Ambassador’ due to his untiring efforts with Habitat for Humanity in helping to provide homes and a self-sustaining existence for those less fortunate, and has had the honor of being chosen as a civilian diplomat for the United States around the world. Please visit his exciting website at www.edhale.com and connect with Ed personally on his Facebook page at: http://www.facebook.com/edhale .

Taylor Purzycki, Horace Mann and Marc Wright, School 14 students have had the chance to personally experience and perform Johnny Mercer’s music this week at Carnegie Hall. The Mercer concert is the latest event celebrating the late, great lyricist and composer.

Conductor Steven Reineke of The New York Pops Orchestra led the concert with guest artists Ann Hampton Calloway, James T. Lane, N’ Kenge and the Camp Broadway Kids. The Camp Broadway Kids opened the show with Just too Marvelous For Words and also performed several of Mercer’s treasured compositions including Moon River, Dream, Accentuate the positive, and The Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe. All in all, what a terrific program!
