Jersey Cityâ€s popular half marathon championship marks its 23^rd year! Recreational and elite runners from around the country can compete for $3,000 in prize money on a USA Track & Field-certified course that interweaves with the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway from Newport to Liberty State Park.

The open-air race has been called the most beautiful course in the Tri-State area with spectacular views of Lower Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty and the Verrazano Bridge.

Winnings and records will be awarded immediately after, during the Post-Race Party with refreshments, a local DJ and several prize drawings for gift cards and event tickets. All runners will receive finisher medals.

Social Cause:  Proceeds are being donated to the Jersey City Medical Center, the areaâ€s newest regional teaching hospital, proving the highest level of care for women, infants, and trauma and heart patients.

Known as the fastest course in the tri-state area, the Newport 10,000 is a 10K road race along the Hudson River waterfront in Jersey Cityâ€s community of Newport. Recreational and elite runners will have the opportunity to compete at the highest level for their share of $15,000 in prize money.

The USA Track & Field-certified course is comprised of flat and local roads that interweave along the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway and provide spectacular views of the Manhattan skyline. Racers have access to four water stops during the race, as well as clocks at each mile.

The race will be followed by Newportâ€s annual Post-Race Party, which is going to feature a live DJ, refreshments and prize drawings. Win NY Mets tickets, NY Red Bulls Tickets, a 1-hour massage or several restaurant gift certificates!

Nationâ€s Hottest Christmastime Event Celebrates Annual “Fun Run” on December 7

 “Running of the Santas” started in 1998 in the streets of downtown Philadelphia when 40 close friends decided to suit up in holiday décor and go bar hopping. More than a decade and a half later, the “Running of the Santas” event has grown across the world with more than 20 host cities from California to the shores of New Zealand.

 Organizers of the 2013 “Running of the Santas Mega Festival” are predicting a record 10,000 party-goers this year, toppling last yearâ€s Philadelphia event which attracted more than 7,000 revelers. Philadelphiaâ€s premier holiday extravaganza will kick off at Finniganâ€s Wake (“The South Pole”) located at 537 N. 3^rd Street, where event participants will prepare for a three-block “fun run” at 4 pm  to the Electric Factory (“The North Pole”) located at 421 N. 7^th Street.

The day-long festivities will continue with a huge concert and party at the Electric Factory. Two-time Grammy nominated and multi-platinum selling rock band Tonic will headline the long list of musical performances in addition to Go Go Gadjet, Split Decision, LeCompt, Gypsy Wisdom and many other great acts. Costume contests will include the popular “Coolest Santa” and the memorable “Hottest Mrs. Claus” awards.

 A portion of the proceeds will go towards benefiting two charity organizations: the Ellie Koerner Leukemia Foundation and the FOP Lodge #5 Survivors Fund. The mission of the Ellie Koerner Leukemia Foundation is to provide assistance to families who struggle to care for a loved one suffering from leukemia. The FOP Lodge #5 Survivors Fund was established to provide financial and emotional assistance to the family members of Philadelphia police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
