As per a press release the New Jersey Conservation Foundation will team up with the Feminist Bird Club of Jersey City, Liberty State Park and Jersey City Birds for a “Big Day of Birding” at Liberty State Park on Saturday, May 4. The free event includes bird walks at 6 and 9 a.m., and is appropriate for both novice and experienced birders.

“We will attempt to identify as many species of birds as we can while having an absolute blast along the way,” said Bill Lynch, New Jersey Conservation’s director of engagement and communications, who is leading the event. “No experience is necessary, and we will bring a scope and extra binoculars for participants to borrow.”

 Hardgrove  a  downtown Jersey City restaurant will again proudly sponsor the  annual 5K Run/Walk  to help kick Autism.

The event will be held at Liberty State Park  North Cove Field at 1 Audrey Zapp Drive in Jersey City on August 26th, 2018 at 10 am  rain or shine.

Race benefactors  Color of Autism a Jersey City non-profit  organisation started by Jersey City business woman Sherry Singh who owns Smile a Pre-school and Nursery on First Street in downtown Jersey City.

Colors of Autism was established in honor of her middle son Ravi  31. who has Autism.

After the race there will be an event after party at the Hardgrove Cafe located at 286 First Street in Jersey City.  Brunch and Cash Bar/Menu will be available and will prove as in previous years to be a fun time for race participants and their guests.

Online advanced race registration  began in February and runs until July 25th, 2018  for $25 and from July 26th until August 23rd, 2018 for $30.

RACE DAY Onsite registration Liberty State Park  will begin 8:30 am ($40) 

There will be various Kiosks, work out sessions, Zumba and Massages.

The event will also be a viewing party for the JCPALâ€s first PSA commercial shoot produced by NJCU Media Arts Department and directed by JCPAL Development Director Nathan Lugo-Montanez

On Sun, Sept 11th, “Finding One Another: the 10th Anniversary Tribute to the Canine Search & Rescue Community of 9/11”  will honor canine working dog teams on the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11th attacks on the World Trade Center. “Finding One Another” has identified more than 950 working dog teams (civilian, government, law enforcement and military) who served in response to 9/11. These teams were involved with search and rescue, recovery and security efforts at Ground Zero, the Pentagon, Shanksville, and the Fresh Kills Landfill recovery site.

“Finding One Another” has organized a Recognition Ceremony at Liberty State Park in Jersey City starting at 12:45 p.m. More than 1,000 canine working dog teams who served at the 9/11 sites have been invited to the event and current working dog teams will line the processional route honoring the 9/11 teams.

The Recognition Ceremony will begin with an address by U.S. Senator Frank R. Lautenberg of New Jersey.  Following Senator Lautenbergâ€s address, attendees will pause at 1:00 p.m. for a Moment of Remembrance, when firehouses, churches, and other institutions across the country will sound sirens and ring bells in honor of those lost on 9/11. 

“These sirens and bells are a signal for each person to stop and remember the people we have lost and demonstrate the perseverance the American people have shown since that fateful day,” Lautenberg wrote in a statement.

At the ceremony, the first Sirius Courage Award will be presented posthumously to Army Sgt. Zainah Caye Creamer, the first woman military working dog handler killed in combat in the history of the United States. She died in Afghanistan on January 12, 2011. The award is named after the only dog to be killed at Ground Zero and will be presented by his handler, Lt. Lim of the Port Authority Police.

Civilian, law enforcement and military working dog teams of 9/11 will be honored at the Recognition Ceremony. At the end of the Recognition Ceremony, members of AKC Parent Clubs, working dog clubs and other organizations will be invited to sign a “Convention on Cooperation among American Working Dog Organizations,” with the formalities of a treaty signing ceremony. Representatives from the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense will be in attendance to receive the document. This ceremony will be a re-signing of the same document that was originally signed in 2008 at the Doberman Pinscher Centennial in Topeka, Kansas.

The momentum generated by the Recognition Ceremony and the historic signing of the “Convention on Cooperation” will be used to plan a White House Conference on Working Dogs in America. Through the commitment of American dog breeders to DHS and others, the political capital of these efforts may be parlayed into alliances that will help advance the cause of providing American Dogs for American Security to further the security of the United States.

“Finding One Another: The 10th Anniversary Tribute to the Canine Search & Rescue Community of 9/11” is spearheaded by the Tails of Hope Foundation. This New York based non-profit is dedicated to advancing the fields of veterinary and human medicine through a comparative medicine approach that focuses on eradicating cancer and other life-threatening diseases affecting companion animals and people.
The projectâ€s Advisory Committee includes veterinary and human medical experts, SAR volunteers, acclaimed artists, educators, business, trauma and non-profit professionals, many of whom served at the 9/11 sites, all of whom are dedicated to honoring the canine/human partnership.

“This is the hour when we choose our future. I’m Jon Huntsman and I’m running for president of the United States,” with those words  Former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman announced on Tuesday, June 21st, at Liberty State Park in Jersey City his candidacy for President in the 2012 race thus becoming one more Republican contender to join the race for the White House. Liberty State Park is also the location chosen by  former President Ronald Reagan to announce his bid for President in 1980. 

Huntsman  was President Obama’s Amabassdor to China until this past spring.

Sean Hannity from Fox’s Hannity’s America was on hand to interview Huntsman. When asked by Hannity why the former Utah Governor and Ambassador to China decided to enter the race;  Huntsman said, “Because I love my country. And I can’t stomach the thought that we are passing down to the next generation, a country that is less viable, less good, less competitive, less compassionate than the one we got. You have a choice then, you can either stand on the sidelines or you can do as Teddy Roosevelt used to preach, and you can get in the arena and do something about it.”
