“In that phase, the police arrested 41 individuals and also recovered illegal guns and drugs from city streets.” The Jersey City Police Department along with its partners in the Hudson County Prosecutorâ€s Office and the New Jersey State Police and Drug Enforcement Agency arrested 26 individuals. The individuals arrested range in 2 age from as young as 15 years old to 64 years of age. The individuals were arrested for the following charges: – possession and distribution of a controlled dangerous substance within a school zone and parks, – tampering with evidence – wandering, remaining in or prowling in public places with the purpose of obtaining or selling a controlled dangerous substance – false swearing (ie. giving false information to police) – failure to appear warrants. Evidence recovered included 107 bags of heroin, 38 vials of cocaine, 1 bag of marijuana, and 1 ecstacy tablet. “This is a continual effort by the Jersey City Police Department and its law enforcement partners to rid the city of guns and drugs,” said Police Chief Thomas Comey.” We will continue to make this city safer and improve the quality of life for our citizens.”
