Hudson County, New Jersey (July 2016) – A Bayonne Medical Center-CarePoint Health official recently met with some of those displaced by a five-alarm apartment house fire in June to provide additional assistance to them from the healthcare system.
Forty-seven residents of 455-461 Ave. C were left without a permanent place to live after the blaze totaled their building on June 18.
Fourteen of the former residents were gathered together on July 6 by Robert Wondolowski, CarePoint Healthâ€s Bayonne community liaison, so he could present them with a $120 Walmart gift card per person to help them replace some of the items lost in the fire.

Those who could not attend were to have their gift cards delivered to them by the city of Bayonneâ€s Constituent Services Office.

Bayonne Office of Emergency Management Coordinator Edoardo Ferrante, Michael McCabe of McCabe Ambulance, and Erica Daughtrey of Congressman Albio Sires†office also participated in the presentations.

The July 6 CarePoint donations to the fire victims followed earlier donations on June 18, the day of the blaze. At that time, each of the 47 fire victims received a gift card with a value of $125. In addition, CarePoint donated dozens of towels, toothbrushes, soaps, shampoos and other toiletries.
Wondolowski had gone to the fire site and helped the displaced residents load what they could salvage into their cars. He then met with Mayor James Davis and emergency service officials at the Bayonne Ice Rink, which served as a local shelter that weekend, to provide any other assistance possible from CarePoint.
