JCPD makes arrests in Jersey City

The Jersey City Police Department’s Ceasefire Unit began the week with a significant arrest connected to two shooting incidents dating back to October 2025, underscoring the JCPD’s targeted approach to gun violence reduction and accountability.

On October 21, 2025, at approximately 11:19 p.m., officers responded to confirmed shots fired in the area of Van Nostrand and Ocean Avenues.  No injuries were reported.  Nearly two weeks later, just after midnight on November 6, 2025, officers responded to another confirmed shots fired incident in the area of 102-106 Rutgers Avenue.  While no injuries were reported, several parked vehicles sustained bullet damage.

]]> SUMMER SHIELD II, Part II JERSEY CITY – Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy and the Jersey City Police Department unveiled today the results of Operation Summer Shield II Part II which led to the arrest of 26 individuals. The operation targeted open-air drug markets and felons that police officials believe would create their own crime wave during the hot summer months. “This is a great day for the citizens of Jersey City, the Jersey City Police Department and its partners in Operation Summer Shield II, Part II, who were able to continue where they left off from earlier in the spring,” said Mayor Healy.

“In that phase, the police arrested 41 individuals and also recovered illegal guns and drugs from city streets.” The Jersey City Police Department along with its partners in the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey State Police and Drug Enforcement Agency arrested 26 individuals. The individuals arrested range in 2 age from as young as 15 years old to 64 years of age. The individuals were arrested for the following charges: – possession and distribution of a controlled dangerous substance within a school zone and parks, – tampering with evidence – wandering, remaining in or prowling in public places with the purpose of obtaining or selling a controlled dangerous substance – false swearing (ie. giving false information to police) – failure to appear warrants. Evidence recovered included 107 bags of heroin, 38 vials of cocaine, 1 bag of marijuana, and 1 ecstacy tablet. “This is a continual effort by the Jersey City Police Department and its law enforcement partners to rid the city of guns and drugs,” said Police Chief Thomas Comey.” We will continue to make this city safer and improve the quality of life for our citizens.”
