Mayor Mark A. Smith invited residents to use the three cooling centers that the City has opened. Bayonneâ€s three senior centers will also serve as cooling centers from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. from Wednesday, June 20, through Friday, June 22. They are located at 16 West 4^th Street (near Broadway), 597 Broadway (near 27^th Street), and 329 Avenue B (at 56^th Street).

The DiDomenico Pool at 16^th Street will be open extended hours from 10:30 a.m. through 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 20, through Friday, June 22, weather permitting.

At Lincoln Community School, the Skutnick Pool will be open from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 20, through Friday, June 22, for use as a cooling center and to provide relief from the heat.

During the heat wave, please be sure to take the necessary precautions to avoid heat exhaustion. If possible, avoid going outdoors during the heat of the day, drink plenty of fluids, and donâ€t overexert yourself. Please take the time to check in on elderly or disabled friends and relatives to make sure they are all right. If necessary, contact the Bayonne Police Department for assistance at 201-858-6900.
