Parade Showcases the Rich Heritage of the Bolivian People

JERSEY CITY – Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy, the Municipal Council and the Division of Cultural Affairs proudly announce that the annual Bolivian Parade and Celebration will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 4th to mark 187 Years of Independence. The parade will kick off at 12 p.m. in Hamilton Park, located on Pavonia and Jersey Avenues, and will proceed to City Hall, 280 Grove Street for the festival which is scheduled to last until 6 p.m.

“The Bolivian community in Jersey City has been putting on one of the most colorful and beautiful parades for the past 12 years,” said Mayor Healy. “Each year Jersey City comes together to celebrate the independence of the Bolivian people and it only keeps getting better. This year I hope we can have an even greater turn out so that everyone can get a taste of the Bolivian culture that has so immensely influenced Jersey City.”

The parade is part of the city’s annual “Tapestry of Nations” Ethnic Festival Series and is sponsored by Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy, the Municipal Council and the Division of Cultural Affairs. A celebration will be held immediately following the parade outside of City Hall, showcasing the rich culture of the Bolivian people with music, dance and fun for the whole family.

Those who join in on the celebration are sure to have a great experience as they bask in the vibrant culture of the Bolivian community. Visitors are encouraged to take part in this spectacular festival that has reached an audience of more than 2,000 people in the past.
