Construction Progresses, Employment Available at Bayonne Off-Track Wagering Facility

New Meadowlands Racetrack LLC’s (NMRLLC) first off-track wagering (OTW) facility, Winners, is on target for a July opening in Bayonne. The 25,000 square-foot venue will boast two large simulcast viewing areas, a VIP room, and a 40-seat bar. The venue is expected to operate generally seven days a week from 11:00 a.m. until the end of racing and sports. McLoone’s will operate a custom-designed restaurant that emphasizes race and sports-viewing capabilities. With more than 150 television screens, plenty of on-site parking, and outdoor smoking lounges, the facility aims to please racing enthusiasts and sports fans alike.

Winners will bring over 100 full and part-time positions to the Bayonne community within the OTW and restaurant/sports bar operation. Mayor Mark A. Smith said, “The off-track wagering facility is a positive development for Bayonne. That is why our administration has been so supportive of this project from the beginning. The construction phase has created jobs and is generating local economic activity. When it is completed, the new facility will offer an attractive wagering operation and restaurant to the community. The off-track wagering business will provide much-needed employment for our residents.” Smith continued, “The OTW will join the Bayonne Crossing shopping center as another great source of jobs to open on Route 440 with my encouragement and support. We will continue our strong efforts to attract a variety of new employers to Bayonne.”

The employment recruitment process has begun. Management and security personnel are actively being recruited for Bayonne. Positions are posted on the www.meadowlandsracetrack.com website (under press/contact us-careers).

NMRLLC is currently accepting applications for the OTW Director position. Future positions that will be recruited include other management, tellers, security, guest services, program sellers, and all aspects of McLoone’s food and beverage operation.

SOSH Architects of Atlantic City, NJ designed the Bayonne facility. The firm’s myriad credits in the entertainment sector include Harrah’s Chester Casino & Racetrack in PA and Tropicana – The Quarter in Atlantic City. LP Ciminelli of Buffalo, NY is the construction manager for the project. The company’s portfolio includes The Meadows Racetrack & Casino in PA; Harrington Raceway & Casino in DE and Saratoga Racing & Gaming in NY.

Jeff Gural, the owner of the OTW and the lease operator of the Meadowlands Racetrack, is committed to engaging the management of the OTW and the Racetrack to participate in events that will employ members of the community, educate our local schools and colleges on the industry and contribute to notable local charities. In addition to building the OTW, Jeff Gural will commence plans to build a new Racetrack at the Meadowlands that will continue to provide opportunities for employment in the area.
