The Apprenticeship Fair is part of the Project Labor Agreement, which requires that projects in excess of $25 million utilize union labor and that the unions hire and train Jersey City residents as apprentices.

“The Goya Foods expansion project is a positive development for Jersey City, as it will provide approximately 150 union construction jobs,” said  Mayor Healy. “Additionally, the apprenticeship program is a great way for Jersey City residents interested in careers in the building trades to gain valuable experience and to build a path for future employment.”

There will be apprenticeship opportunities available in the following trades: bricklayers, carpenters, electrical workers, glaziers, HVAC, laborers, operating engineers, plasterers, cement masons, plumbers, tile setters, and painters.

All those that register must meet the minimum requirements. Persons must be 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED and a valid NJ driver’s license.
