Jersey City Public Schools launches a new tradition—The I Love Jersey City Public Schools: Back to School Festival!

JLibertySP AB 7ersey City, NJ—9/18/2013—The Jersey City Public Schools is proud to invite the public to the first ever I Love Jersey City Public Schools Back to School Festival in Liberty State Park on September 21, from 1-4.  The event will celebrate the beginning of an exciting school year by showcasing the rich programs available at its 39 schools and providing opportunities for parents and community members to connect with their schools, learn more about them and meet some of the parents and staff.  Student groups will perform throughout the day and a wide array of activities such as face-painting, an arts and crafts station, table-top science and dance lessons.  Schools will mount displays about the innovative work they are doing with their students.  Activities will also be sponsored by some of the district’s partners like the JCEA (Jersey City Educators Association) and Liberty Science Center.

 

“This is an important step in our commitment to engage our families and community in support of our children.  This is a day to celebrate all that is good in the Jersey City Public Schools and it is a day to affirm, I Love Jersey City Public Schools!” said Dr. Marcia Lyles, Superintendent of the Jersey City Public Schools.

The event will take place on Freedom Field, which is at the corner of Morris Pesin Drive and Freedom Way in the park.  Shuttle buses from all over the city will be available from 12:30 to 4:30 with stops at P.S. 23 (main building), P.S. 28, JCEA parking lot (1600 JFK Boulevard), Dickinson HS, Ferris HS, Lincoln HS, McNair Academic, Snyder HS, and the Liberty State Park light rail station.
