Bayonne High School Drama Society is proud to announce its upcoming spring musical, Mean Girls. The production is directed by Lori Alexander, a former Broadway performer whose professional experience and passion for theatre bring exceptional energy and expertise to the BHS stage. Featuring more than 70 talented student performers, musicians, and members of the technical and stage crew, this high-energy show promises an unforgettable theatrical experience for the entire community.

Mean Girls follows Cady Heron as she navigates the wild and hilarious world of high school cliques after moving from Africa to suburban Illinois. As she encounters “The Plastics” and learns the ups and downs
of popularity, the story delivers sharp humor, catchy songs, and a heartfelt message about friendship, identity, and staying true to yourself.

Ms. Alexander shares that she is thrilled to bring this vibrant production to the Bayonne community. “The themes of Mean Girls are always timely,” she says. “There’s so much heart beneath the humor, and I’m
incredibly proud of the dedication and talent our students have brought to this show. Audiences are going to have a wonderful time.”

Performances will be held at Bayonne High School’s Alexander X. O’Connor Auditorium, 669 Avenue A, Bayonne, New Jersey.

Now in its 7th year, the Jersey City Comedy Festival has become one of the region’s most exciting comedy events, bringing together nationally recognised headliners, emerging talent, and enthusiastic audiences to the heart of Jersey City. Light Night of the Soul is a riveting story based on the true-life experience of a spiritual teacher, author, and professional “Guiding Light” who has life figured out until she buys a 200-year-old house in the woods that comes with leaky pipes, an overgrown garden, and an angry ghost that was terrorizing her night after night.

Taking place during the pandemic lockdown, she is forced to battle spirits and confront traumatic memories of her past: a sexual assault, a murder in the family, and overwhelming anxiety that kept her from truly living, and certainly not living the dreams in her heart.

One thing Leah has realized through her work and this harrowing experience: “Houses aren’t haunted, people are.”

The captivating story is one of restoration and redemption – of home and spirit – and takes you into the depths of some of life’s most challenging moments, then guides you back to safety, hope and freedom. It is an intimate, funny, and scarily true one-woman journey – helping us all learn to trust the darkness.

Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that The Beginnings, a Chicago tribute band, will present hit songs from the 1970s and 1980s in the Summer Sounds by the Bay concert on Wednesday, June 25, at 7:00 p.m.  The group performs in Chicago’s original, classic-era, seven-piece configuration, without the aid of backing tracks or additional musicians. 

The concert will take place at the amphitheater on the lower level of DiDomenico-16^th Street Park.  The concert site is located below the foot of West 16^th Street, between Avenue A and Newark Bay. The Recreation Division encourages audience members to bring their chairs.  No chairs will be provided.
