‘Dogs and their People”

The latest in his ongoing essay, “Mo-ME HOOD”

about the places and faces in Jersey City Heights

An exhibition of color Giclee photographs by Jersey City photographer, E. Jan Kounitz will be on display at WILLIE JOE’S Pizza n’ Deli Emporium, 451 Palisades Avenue Jersey City, NJ, across the street from Riverview Park in the JC Heights between Griffith and Bowery Streets.

Mr. Kounitz’s series of photographs documents the changing face of the Heights’ residents, merchants, places and things — a project he began 10 years ago when he first moved from Lower Manhattan to the top of the Palisade cliff.

Most recently his work has been part of the Pro-Arts Contemporary Art Space (PACAS) storefront project and the “Streetscapes” public art project presented by Central Avenue Street Improvement District (CASID), featuring his photograph titled “It Ain’t Arles,” a locally grown sunflower, mounted on a utility box at Central and Manhattan Avenues.  Current shows include the Vermont Photography Workplace and The Hayes Gallery in Northumberland, UK.  To learn more about Mr. Kounitz, see his website,                                                     www.ejankounitz.com

In conjunction with JC Fridays, an opening celebration will be held at Willie Joe’s on Friday, 5 March 2010 from 7 to 10 PM
