Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy will give his 2012 State of the City Address at 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2012 in City Hall Council Chambers, 280 Grove Street.
The public is invited to attend the speech, during which Mayor Healy will discuss his administration’s efforts to keep taxes stable, reduce crime and improve the quality of life for residents. The Mayor will discuss last year’s accomplishments and announce plans for the year ahead.
The Everything Jersey City Festival will Celebrate Community Pride and UEZ Support at a Time when Budget Cuts Loom

If you don’t know by now, one-third of Jersey City is a designated Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ\) a designation that offers local businesses tax and other financial incentives to help grow their businesses and stimulate local economy. Sale tax revenues generated by UEZ businesses go for economic development and neighborhood improvements like street lights, paving, flowerboxes — and other programs that give constituents a feeling of pride in their community.
To celebrate the UEZ’s success revitalizing the Heights section of Jersey City – the neighborhood nestled on the cliff above Hoboken – the Central Avenue Special Improvement District (CASID) Management Corporation presents the Everything Jersey City Festival which takes place Sat., May 21st from 11 am-to-6 pm along Central Avenue from Congress to Hutton Streets. City Council unanimously passes Resolution to name 5th and Monmouth Street in Downtown Jersey City, Louis Calamito Way
Louis Calamito, a decorated World War II veteran and a longtime resident of Monmouth Street in downtown Jersey City who died in 2005 will be honored In Memoriam when the City of Jersey City re-names the corner of 5th and Monmouth Street “Louis Calamito Way.”
Through the efforts of Jersey City Council President Peter Brennan, Councilman Steve Fulup, the Village Neighborhood Association and Louis Calamito’s son, Vincent, the Resolution to rename the street corner received a unanimous “yes” vote by the City Council on January 26th. The official unveiling of the street sign will take place March 5th with Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy, Council President Brennan, downtown’s Ward “E” Councilman Fulop attending along with members of the Calamito family.
