COVID-19 UPDATE 6/29/2020

Mayor Davis has directed OEM to keep residents informed on all the latest information related to this health emergency.

Bayonne Residents CURRENTLY Positive – 348*

  • The number above reflects only the Bayonne residents that are CURRENTLY COVID-19 Positive.  We have 771 Bayonne residents that are considered recovered.   

FIREWORKS:  The Mayor has announced the organization of a Fireworks Task Force which is made up of Bayonne Police Officers and Bayonne Firefighters.  This Task Force will work both proactively and reactively to stop the nuisance fireworks that have been affecting all areas of the city over the past few weeks. Please report any/all fireworks use to the Bayonne Public Safety Communications Center at 201-858-6900.

GOVERNOR’S DIRECTIVES: Our state has now entered a new phase in re-opening for many businesses. There has been an announcement on the delay of INDOOR dining.  Please check with the Governor’s social media or visit www.covid19.nj.gov for the latest information.  Please support our local businesses.

COVID-19 UPDATE 6/27/2020

Mayor Davis has directed OEM to keep residents informed on all the latest information related to this health emergency.

Bayonne Residents CURRENTLY Positive – 368*

  • The number above reflects only the Bayonne residents that are CURRENTLY COVID-19 Positive.  We have 751 Bayonne residents that are considered recovered.   The Bayonne Medical Center advises that there are currently NO Bayonne resident In-Patients at BMC with COVID-19 or under investigation for the virus.

Mayor Davis has directed OEM to keep residents informed on all the latest information related to this health emergency.

Mayor Davis has informed us a 64yr old female Bayonne resident passed away due to Coronavirus-related illness.  This passing marks the 69th since the beginning of the health emergency.  Mayor Davis expresses his deepest sympathy, on behalf of all Bayonne, to the family of the deceased.

Bayonne Residents CURRENTLY Positive – 723*

  • The number above reflects only the Bayonne residents that are CURRENTLY COVID-19 Positive.  We have 300 Bayonne residents that are considered recovered.  Recovered patients, according to the CDC, no longer have to isolate or be reported.   

TESTING:  The Bayonne Medical Center continues to perform testing for COVID-19 at Veterans Stadium each weekday.  Your physician can make you an appointment for this testing.  Rite-Aid at 1097 Broadway is also performing COVID-19 testing.  This testing is free and is open to anyone (regardless if you have symptoms or not).  Go to riteaid.com to make an appointment.  CityMD is doing Antibody testing.

RECYCLING:  Alternating Recycling will continue this coming week beginning on 5/25.  On your normal recycle pick up day, please put out only CARDBOARD/PAPER this week.  This will be last week of alternating recycling, as we return to normal pickups on the week of June 1st.

PARKING REGULATIONS: ALL parking regulations that have been suspended for the last two months, will come back this week.  Summonses will be issued for meters, pay lots on Tuesday 5/26/20. UPDATE: RESIDENTIAL ZONE PARKING WILL NOT BE ENFORCED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

GOVERNOR DIRECTIVES: There have been many updates to the Governor’s directives, as they relate to the RE-OPENING of New Jersey.  ALL non-essential businesses are reopened (with restrictions), as well as numerous other changes.  Please go to covid19.nj.gov for full information.

bAYONNE COVID-19 UPDATE 5/22/2020

Mayor Davis has directed OEM to keep residents informed on all the latest information related to this health emergency.

Mayor Davis has informed us that two more Bayonne residents have passed away due to Coronavirus-related illness.  A 78yr old male and a 50yr old female passed away, bringing our total to 68 fatalities.  Mayor Davis expresses his deepest sympathy, on behalf of all Bayonne, to the families of these two neighbors.

Bayonne Residents CURRENTLY Positive – 719*

  • The number above reflects only the Bayonne residents that are CURRENTLY COVID-19 Positive.  We have 298 Bayonne residents that are considered recovered.  Recovered patients, according to the CDC, no longer have to isolate or be reported.   This is another day over day reduction in current positive cases in Bayonne.

Mayor Davis has directed OEM to keep residents informed on all the latest information related to this health emergency.

Mayor Davis has announced the passing of two more residents due to Coronavirus-related illness. Two men, ages 86 and 81 passed away bringing the city’s total to 63 residents that have died.  Mayor Davis expresses his condolences to the families of both these gentlemen.

MASKS: The State of NJ and the City of Bayonne have no requirement to wear a mask when outdoors.  Masks may be worn outdoors, if you choose, and should be worn outdoors when social distancing is not possible.  Masks MUST be worn indoors when shopping.

RECYCLING:  Alternate recycling continues this week of 5/18/20.  On your scheduled recycling day, please put out ONLY plastic/glass/cans this week.  Normal recycling will return the week of 6/1/20.

Bayonne Parking Utility is Renewing Blue and White Zone Permits

Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that the Bayonne Parking Utility is renewing its “virtual” permits registered to license plates for the Blue and White Zones. The transition to enforcement by license plate took place last year. The Parking Utility is getting ready to send out emails to all residents with current permits in the Blue and White Zones on May 11, 2020 to renew their residential parking permits. Current permit holders in the Blue and White Zones should renew online or through the mail.

Food Truck Festival Set for Bayonne on Saturday, May 18

Early day at last years 2018 Bayonne Food Truck Festival

            Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that Bayonne is hosting its second annual food truck festival on Saturday, May 18, from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m.  This year’s festival is being held in honor of the City of Bayonne’s 150th anniversary. The event will take place on Avenue E between 22nd and 24th Streets.  In order to accommodate the festival, portions of Avenue E will be closed to traffic. Thirty food vendors will be participating.  They will offer a great assortment of foods from a variety of cultures.  Italian, Korean, Greek, Polish, Thai, Cuban, American, and other cuisines will be featured.

Bayonne’s buddy baseball

Bayonne Buddy Baseball kicked off it’s 5th year last Saturday (5/4/19) with an amazing turnout… 100 players, aged 3-21, all with Special Needs.

What was started five years ago by Pete Amadeo and Elisha DeMaria has become an entire community effort. NYC’s Mr. Met and the Somerset Patriots mascot Sparkee along with the Bayonne High School’s own Bee (Stingers Up!) were all there.
