Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that the City of Bayonne has adopted a new garbage and recycling schedule, effective January 2, 2021.
For purposes of garbage and recycling pick-ups, Bayonne will be divided into three zones: Zone 1 will run from 1st Street through 16th Street including Broadway. Zone 2 will run from 16th Street to 30th Street, including Broadway, Prospect Avenue, Avenue F, and Harbor Pointe (the former Alexan). Zone 3 will run from 30th Street to 63rd Street, including County Village (the development by the City Line, the Bayonne-Jersey City border), and all other thoroughfares between 30th and 31st Streets.
Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that a dining, entertainment, and classic car event on Lower Broadway has been scheduled for Saturday, October 24, from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. Broadway will be closed to traffic from 5th Street to Cottage Street, in order to accommodate the event. Participating restaurants will set up tables, chairs, and tents on the street.
In order to allow for event set-up on Saturday, October 24, the street-closing on Broadway will start at 10:30 a.m. Broadway will be closed until 5:30 p.m. that night, in order to provide time to remove dining furniture and equipment from the street.
No parking will be allowed on Broadway from 5th Street to Cottage Street from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., in order to provide space for the event, along with set-up and break-down activities.
The Bergen Point event will observe the mask requirements and social distancing guidelines established by the State of New Jersey.
This event will be the latest in a series to help highlight Bayonne’s restaurants and businesses in different parts of the city.
Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis issued a proclamation declaring October to be Distracted Driving Awareness Month in the City of Bayonne. This presentation was one of many events organized by safe driving advocate Pam O’Donnell. Four years ago, her husband and daughter died in an automobile crash. That tragedy has compelled her to speak out before a variety of audiences about the importance of safe driving and the consequences of highway deaths. She has spoken to audiences at churches, schools, and corporations. The proclamation refers to public education programs sponsored by the National Safety Council and the Catch You Later Foundation. OEM UPDATE:To date, 1,353 Bayonne residents have tested positive for COVID-19, regardless of where that test was given. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 76 Bayonne residents have passed away due to Coronavirus-related illnesses. The Bayonne Department of Health continues to advise residents that have recently taken a COVID-19 test to be sure to answer their phones for our Contact Tracers and Dept of Health Staff. These conversations are vital in helping to curb the spread of the Coronavirus.
BMC UPDATE: Currently, there is one (1) COVID positive Bayonne resident inpatient at Bayonne Medical Center. There are no COVID patients in CCU.

STATEMENT FROM THE BAYONNE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH:“Since the beginning of this public health emergency contact tracing has been a key mechanism in breaking the chain of transmission and slowing community spread among those infected with COVID-19. Currently, the Bayonne Health Department is investigating multiple cases of young people in their late teens and early 20s who are not responding to our calls and/or not providing us with contacts. So, families of these young people, if you know your young adult is getting tested for COVID please inform them that they MUST answer the call. We need cooperation not just from this group, but everyone in an effort to reduce the spread of transmission. Thank you.â€

The Bayonne Health Department advises that a 42yr old female passed away last month from Coronavirus-related illness. This passing is the 74th Bayonne resident that has died due to this pandemic. Mayor Davis extends his sympathy, on behalf of all Bayonne, to the family of this resident.

Mayor Davis has informed us that a 50yr old male has died from Coronavirus-related illness. The death is the 72nd Bayonne resident to die since the health emergency began. Mayor Davis extends his sympathy to the family of this gentleman, on behalf of all Bayonne.
