RVO REAL ESTATE VIEWS: $2.8 Million Penthouse Purchase Sets Jersey City Record

77 Hudson Penthouse Condo goes for 2.8 Million in Jersey City

in Jersey City

Jersey City, NJ, September 2013: 77 Hudson, K. Hovnanian’s® soaring 49-story residential tower on the Hudson River in Jersey City, has just achieved a new milestone. The sparkling blue-glass luxury high-rise building recently sold one of its few remaining unsold homes, a two-bedroom penthouse on the 48th floor, for a record-setting price of $2.8 million.

While the transaction marks the highest sale price ever paid for a residential condominium in Jersey City, according to Scott Waldman, 77 Hudson’s broker of record, “It does not represent the top of the line at 77 Hudson. This record sale is not the highest-priced home in the building. However, it certainly showcases the stark comparison between our 2,100 square-foot penthouse and similar apartment homes just across the Hudson. A comparable 2,100 square-foot condominium on the west side of Manhattan would cost between $5-7 million, if you could find it. This is a testament not only to the quality and the desirability of the homes at 77 Hudson and our close-to-everything location, but also to the rebounding strength of the housing market in New Jersey. This spectacular building is nearly 100% sold – and our final penthouses are the crown jewel of 77 Hudson, with views that are just breathtaking.” Continue reading RVO REAL ESTATE VIEWS: $2.8 Million Penthouse Purchase Sets Jersey City Record

IN THE CLUBS- Hoboken’s ROOM 84

BY MARTIN RAMONE DELOSSANTOS

room 84 outsideRoom 84 is aptly named because the address is 84 Washington Street in Hoboken. It is an intimate club; not a very large space.  There is enough room to accommodate private areas called V.I.P. sections for a more private setting with friends.  These spaces are sectioned off by sheer curtain panels letting you enjoy your party, but still being part of the overall scene with a dance floor.

The dominant color is white with colorful lighting dimmed enough to make you feel intimate.  The bar is long so everyone can get to it and order drinks if bottle service isn’t required.  If you do order bottle service it is quite an experience because you do feel like a V.I.P. with lots of attentive service from the staff.  The bottle service is very affordable compared with other clubs in town.  For $250 the Friday package special you get 3 bottles of top shelf liquor, and a carafe of juices and sodas.  On Saturday, the 3-bottle special is $300.

JERSEY CITY SEAL LOGOStaff & Mobile Navigator Program to Assist Residents

JERSEY CITY – Mayor Steven M. Fulop announced today that the City of Jersey City Department of Health
and Human Services has developed an aggressive plan to ensure residents have access to health insurance
through the Affordable Care Act Marketplace, which is scheduled to open on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013.
Outreach includes a Mobile Navigator Program that is funded through a $400,000 federal grant.

“Nearly 20 percent of the Jersey City population, approximately 55,000 residents, currently do not have health
insurance,” said Mayor Fulop. “With the launch of the Affordable Care Act Marketplace, we want these
residents to know what their options are and how to apply. That is why the Health Department has developed a
robust and proactive plan to assist residents in answering their questions and in applying online.”

The City of Jersey City and Public Health Solutions have partnered on a federally-funded mobile Navigator
Program through a $400,000 grant that will hire four bilingual counselors to visit businesses, community groups,
and local non-profits to enroll residents for health coverage in Essex and Hudson County. Only six federal grants

By Sally Deering

Enzo photo 2 from big brotherEnzo Palumbo appeared in Big Brother 12 on CBSBIG BROTHER just wrapped its 15th season on CBS, a long-time hit where viewers seem to enjoy watching people live under a microscope. Bayonne resident Enzo Palumbo, who was a contestant on BIG BROTHER 12 is a huge fan of the show and keeps a new strategic plan in his back pocket ready to be used against his enemies when BIG BROTHER decides to do an “All Star” season.

“It’s like mental warfare,” Palumbo says. “Once you’re into that house you’re in game mode.’

A reality show, BIG BROTHER puts a hodge-podge of 15-20 people in a house together with TV cameras and microphones that record their every move. During their stay, the contestants are isolated from the rest of the world and not informed on current events. Each series lasts about three months, with the contestant who outlasts all his housemates winning a big cash prize. Palumbo, who went by the nickname “The Meow Meow” and was a member of an alliance known as “The Brigade” made it all the way to the final three before being evicted from the house and kicked off the show. Al Slootsky Park to Close Monday, September 23, Due to Bridge Project

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced that Al Slootsky Park will close on Monday, September 23, because a large portion of the park is on Port Authority property.  The Port Authority owns the Bayonne Bridge, along with land beneath it and adjacent to it.  In agreements made in 1956 and 1980 between the City of Bayonne and the Port Authority, the municipality may operate a park on land beneath and next to the bridge at Juliette and 4th Streets.  That property has an irregular shape, and measures approximately 206 ft. by 151 ft.

Before Slootsky Park closes, the Bayonne Department of Public Works and Parks will remove any playground equipment and basketball backboards that can be reused at other locations around the city.  The Port Authority has said that the City of Bayonne can reopen a smaller park in 2017 after the Raise the Roadway project is completed.

Meanwhile, as part of an agreement negotiated by Mayor Mark A. Smith, the Port Authority is funding improvements to nearby North Street Park to accommodate neighborhood children. The Port Authority will also fund new playground equipment when the park is restored.
