Bayonne Community Cancer Support Group Kicks-Off Toy & Gift Drive

Each year the Bayonne Community Cancer support group with the help of the  members of the community provides toys and gifts for children who are receiving treatment for cancer and blood disorders. Intensive medication, frequent clinic visits, and hospitalizations all pose added challenges to these children’s growth and development. By providing opportunities to observe and celebrate special events we help these families maintain a sense of normalcy. The Bayonne Community Cancer Support Groups goal is that each child be able to experience the joy of receiving a special gift knowing that others care for them and wish them well.

They are asking community members to lend their support by donating gifts and toys for infants, toddlers, school-age children and young teens which we bring to children being treated for cancer at seven area hospitals that treat pediatric oncology patients; Beth Israel Medical Center, Hackensack University Hospital, Robert-Wood Johnson University Hospital, St. Peter’s University Hospital, Morristown Memorial Hospital, Overlook Hospital and St. Joseph’s Children Hospital as well as the pediatric floor of Bayonne Medical Center, our local Emergency Room and Family Clinic.

Drop sites are all over Bayonne at banking institutions as well as City Hall, Bayonne Medical Center, Bayonne Public Library and Chances Tavern. Suggested new items which would be much appreciated include art and craft items, hand-held video games, and clothing items such as sweaters, scarves, hats and gloves, pajamas, socks, sporting goods, music, board games and gift cards. If you would like to make a donation this season or would like more information about our drive you can contact the support group at (201) 823-9980.
